The Youth Leadership Academy is NYA’s high school leadership program.
Students in grades 9-12 mentor younger students and intern for the NYA staff, learning valuable leadership and job skills. They receive focused academic tutoring and participate in elective classes such as Computer Programming, Performing Arts for Leadership, and Documentary Filmmaking. These elective classes offer our Youth Leaders opportunities to expand their interests and skills. Students also receive college prep (college application and financial aid support, SAT tutoring, etc.) and participate in leadership development activities.
In addition to these great opportunities, NYA also provides our high school seniors with one on one college mentorship, as most of our seniors are either first-generation Americans and/or the first person in their families to attend college. Alexandra Halpern, our College Coordinator, leads our monthly “Parent University” in Venice, where we invite the parents of our high school seniors to be involved in the college process.
If you have any questions, please contact Alexandra Halpern.
